Vonnegut On Plot

“I guarantee you that no modern story scheme, even plotlessness, will give a reader genuine satisfaction, unless one of those old-fashioned plots is smuggled in somewhere. I don’t praise plot as accurate representation of life, but as ways to keep readers reading.”
Kurt Vonnegut, Jr.

Totally excellent observation from one of my favorite writers of all time–it means so very much more too coming from him. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

Thanks for commenting. For a long time, I didn’t give plot enough consideration. Vonnegut made me think and realize.
